Why can't I send or receive email with large
attachments?

Maximum message size of an email including all attachments is 20 megabytes. Incoming messages larger than that limit will be rejected, and error message returned to the sender.

Note that other email providers may have a lower attachment size limit, so attachments smaller than 20MB sent through Modwest may still be rejected by the remote destination. Additionally, downloading large attachments will take a long time for recipients on slower internet connections.

For these reasons, sending large attachments is generally best handled by a service specializing in this function, such as those mentioned in the user-contributed notes below.

Rather than using email attachments, you can upload the file to a free
service like http://www.yousendit.com and automatically send a link to
your recipient by email. YouSendIt handles files of up to one gigabyte
(1GB).

Another possible free solution is:
http://www.mailbigfile.com/

They support up to 100MB for free and up to 2GB with their pro plans.

you happen to stop by and give it a try, we'd appreciate any feedback.

Thanks! :)
