Why does flush() not flush the data to my browser?
The PHP flush() function will not always actually flush data immediately to the browser. Please see the notes on this in the PHP documentation.One of the documented reasons why flush() will not flush concerns mod_gzip which is turned on for you by default. See this other FAQ for instructions on how you can turn off mod_gzip.
